Since Affinity Strategies began to work with the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP), we have seen the organization’s growth skyrocket, especially as their programs and resources have been top of mind throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

SIDP is an association of pharmacists and other allied healthcare professionals. They are committed to promoting the appropriate use of antimicrobial agents and supporting practice, teaching, and research in infectious diseases.

Infectious disease pharmacists take extraordinary measures on a daily basis to preserve and optimize the limited resource of antimicrobials to ensure patient safety and positive patient outcomes. They serve as a bridge between evidence-based pharmacotherapy and applied patient care. They are also a critical resource for the education of all disciplines of healthcare and their interactions with providers, patients, and other learners are a valuable asset to ensure appropriate patient care.

SIDP was Founded in 1990 and their membership encompasses individuals engaged in patient care, research, teaching, pharmaceutical industry, and government.

SIDP is represented by members in integral roles on national and international committees concerning antimicrobial agents, including:

  • Anti-Infective and Anti-Viral Drugs Advisory Committee, FDA
  • Therapeutic Working Committees on Antimicrobial Resistance, CDC
  • Committees on the Treatment of HIV Infection, DHHS

SIDP also collaborates with like-minded healthcare organizations to provide co-sponsored programming and political advocacy, including:

  • Infectious Diseases Society of America
  • American College of Clinical Pharmacy
  • Society for Healthcare and Epidemiology of America
  • American Society for Microbiology
